Always keep your words soft and sweet just in case you have to eat them
Here are few 1960’s ones to get you going, I have left out the more famous artists like the Stones and the Beatles in preference to some that I think sum up the era. I am not sure what you are planning but I have separated them out into Instrumentals (good for dancing to) General Songs that I think are indicative of the 60s and most people of that age group will know. I have also added some smoochie type dancing songs and finally a list of well known songs that people will usually sing along with. If I get time I will do you some for the other era’s.

Here are my choices for the 70’s
It all started with war protest songs, moved on to recreational drugs and ended with ? It was not (in my opinion) a good time for memorable dance music, but still some good individual songs. Seriously though, I have always loved most types of music and basically if I like the song then I usually remember it. I am one of those people who can usually hear a couple of bars of music or a few phrases from a song and I can usually recall it, I am the same with faces, once seen, never forgotten, I always forget peoples names though

Stunning, honey i have trouble with my own name so to have memory recall like yours would be wonderfull, having said that i can also recall songs from a few bars of music, problem is i then often will start to sing em, ( depending on my booze intake lol)and thats when it all gets very bad.
Ps I sound like tina turner, oh yes i do!!!!!!!!

As you may have guessed by now I am a real fan of 60’s music and one of the great groups around at the time was one called the Coasters, they made some great records and were often had songs copied.
Some of my favourites were ‘Yakety Yak’ ‘Poison Ivy’ & ‘Charlie Brown’. They were notable for having a guy with a really deep base voice who would usually add the last line, as in “Yakety Yak, Don’t talk back”
This embedded video is of them and another favourite of mine Del Shannon, sharing the same song, entitled ‘Searchin’ this was recorded by both sets of artists, Del Shannon’s being the later version.
Del Shannon may be remembered for songs such as ‘Runaway’ The Swiss Maid’ ‘Hat’s off to Larry’ ‘Little Town Flirt’ and many more.
I wonder how many of you will remember these guys?

Just found this example of them singing 'Charlie Brown' at least this is the original song version showing the original artists
