Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you look on the blu side (luxor4u.com) there is a great deal of information on marraiges Ofri and registered. Did you marry with a solicitor and was it at Delta Sharm? It is very hard for us british to understand the egyptian laws in relation to marraige and there are somany horror stories it makes you wary. WHere is your husband from and when you return in May are you going to meet his family?

As far as I am aware you have to be there to register the papers, I may be wrong but as I said before check out the LUxor4u.com site ~ there is alot of info on that.
If it remains unregistered so ong as the papers remain intact it is still considered as a maraige an Orfi one, as to end it you need both copies and destroy them.
You can go to the blue side (Luxor4u) by the link at the bottom of the page and can register using the same details as this site. Remeber no one really knows apart from yourselves how you feel, but it is so frustrating when the laws are so different. You can pm me if you wish.

I didn't think that both husband and wife must be there for it to be registered in the goverment offices, not if the partner that is not present has signed a proxy for a solicitor or someone else to represent her / him....
Anyway I was wondering not sure how to spell idle-ly would goverment offices in Egypt register 'unnotarised' photocopies or just the original signed copies? Just curious.......

Emmm, guess should explain in my reply was assuming it was an Orfi and that it was an Orfi to be registered with the Egyptian Courts. I gather that a proper court marriage in Egypt require different conditions and carries more weight than an Orfi / court registered Orfi. However if it does not go to the Embassy the extra weight it carries is still only in Egypt. Just my understanding, could be wrong!

100% sure that a MOJ marriage is legal everywhere so your husband is correct CocoaButter. Also from what you have said you are 100% legally married everywhere too.
I was just debating the eternal "orfi" confusion. I have to say I am no less confused about it and what is and isn't possible with regard to it. Just when I think I have understood it, I realise I haven't.
I don't have an "orfi" myself.
