Any jobs around Hurghada?!

Post by Magnolia »

Hi everyone,

I understand it's not the best of times for job seekers, nevertheless I'm staying positive
Shall any of you hear of a job opening for young German & Russian native speakers, I'd appreciate a nudge ;)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
M

Sorry, but I would prefer my Egyptian friends who speak fluent Russian, with families to support, to get jobs before a foreigner. Much more fair, don't you think?

how sweet of you, winged isis :D
I wouldn't apply for a position that is designed for an Egyptian. I am rather interested in an employer seeking to hire someone with my profile ;)
I don't suppose you know of any... but thanks for your expedient input.

I agree with W I, also Magnolia, you may find it harder to find employment in Egypt as the new gvernment are pushing a law through which says that jobs of ALL kinds must be offered to Egyptians first, so actually getting a work permit could prove a tad difficult :)

You're welcome, Magnolia! :D

Since the only profile you offered us was "young German & Russian native speakers".....

There are, obviously, plenty of foreign companies seeking exclusively highly educated Europeans and native speakers, as I see from the offers I received in friendlier online communities. But it's alright, obviously I'm in the wrong place here facing this sort of hostility.
Lots of love to everyone :)

I dont think anyone is having a go at you Magnolia since the revolution there as been a change in the rules for foreigners working in Egypt and they have stopped issuing work permits, I suppose this is an attempt to give Egyptians a chance to find work, on top of that there is over 250,000 Egyptian workers who have fled Libya back to Egypt who are now without work.

Well, I would think it is up to the employers, right?? If they are advertising for foreigners then foreigners will apply.

Considering Magnolia is new to the forum, I would have hoped members would be friendlier !!!

So you think Winged Isis' replies on my post were purely informational and not at all affronting? My bad then, cause I have a slightly different perception of respectful interaction.

Never mind though. Wishing you guys all the best :)

Hi Hurghada Lady and thanks! Yeah, I know SpotRedSea. There are lots more sites for free vacancy postings. I just came across this forum the other day (which was new to me) and, not to leave any stones unturned, dropped a line... which, in retrospect, wasn't such a good idea.
But it's good to see there are some friendly faces around here too :)

That's Winged Isis point of view, not mine, I dont think anything wrong in the fact you are looking for work,
You will find with most forums or any sites where you leave replies that they will always be different points of view.

Wasn't intending hostility, no need to be so sensitive M, I meant just exactly what Keefy said. You said you know it's not a good time to be asking, so one would assume you had heard something similar.

In Hurghada and Luxor, which exist nearly solely on tourism, there is no work. Thousands are sitting idle. There are over 1, 000, 000 Egyptians who were working in Lybia, and more in other nearby countries currently experiencing politcal unrest, many of who will be coming home and looking for work. While probably none of those have your qualifications, there no doubt are some already in Egypt who do.

Your initial post was bare of details. My response was a mirror of that. You only told us about something that is widely available in Egypt. Also, maybe you could have told us of the sites you already knew about, like that offered here. Perhaps next time, while not requiring a full CV, a little more padding would attract the response you require. You didn't even tell us exactly what type of work you required; it was a very wide-open request. And I did say "Sorry" at the beginning! ;)

Only too happy to help, but sadly my best advice is: don't hold your breath. Hopefully after the election, when we all hope the situation will be more stable, things will be looking brighter for your chances. Good luck.

You see, there are ways to make a point in a politer manner :)
Since this is not a recruitment site I didn't see it necessary to write more. Had I said I am looking for a position in marketing, sales, accounting, office administration, or any other field... well, there are plenty of qualified Egyptians to fill these. Therefore I mentioned the only qualification I bring along that an Egyptian is not able to satisfy, which is the proficiency of a native speaker in two languages. I understand that many jobs don't require this level of literacy and this is why I decided to emphasize exactly this point. Only if someone seeks to employ a native German & Russian speaker would I consider applying.
But all this doesn't matter anymore. I am stepping back and letting you guys enjoy your forum :)
Thanks again for your replies.
Wish you a great weekend, fair elections and peace & prosperity to Egypt and its wonderful people.
Love,
M
