24 carat What??
24 carat is too soft for jewelery
That would be out of shape in no time. It's rare to get 24 carat and especially a bangle in 24.
The jewelery in the pic looks fake .
It's the rage now to wear fake in India.
Indian brides replace traditional gold jewellery as prices rise
by Debarati Roy on Saturday, 25 October 2008
Ashima Lahiri will say her wedding vows in December wearing fake earrings, necklaces and bangles that cost a tenth of the price of gold, breaking a millennia-old Indian tradition that brides wear the precious metal "Gold is too hot now," says the 25-year-old fashion designer from Kolkata, eastern India, who'll spend $305 on her bridal set instead of $3263 for a real one.
"You can't touch it." Lahiri's not alone. Indian families, the world's biggest buyers of gold, are cancelling purchases before the peak wedding season because prices have touched a record high in India, putting traditional bridal sets out of reach.
That's spurred sales of gold-plated, silver and brass gem-encrusted jewellery, designed to match the bride's wedding saris.
"People are not willing to be victims of high gold prices and are instead going for glittering imitations,"
said Roli Malhotra, head of marketing at Sia Lifestyles Pvt Ltd, a 24-outlet chain of fashion jewellery stores based in Mumbai. "Sales of imitation bridal sets are on the rise."

Its not rare at all, 24 carat can and is made into bangles, necklaces etc as seen in the pic.
Families usually always prefer to give their daughters 24 carat gold as it retains its value better apparently, my Gran has always bought my stuff in 24 carat although I prefer 22 but wear neither.
Yes there is a trend to wear costume jewellery for a wedding to accessorise it better to the outfit, but the bride is still usually always given some 22/24 carat gold to take to her in-laws. When this isn't given, its not rare at all for the bride to be returned or killed.

I also meant to say yes the jewellery in the pic may be fake but whether it is or not, whatever shes wearing, its far too much.
I’ve seen brides here in the UK decked up like that though in real gold, always 22/24, whats the point other than to demonstrate what a family is able to give. Would prefer a nice holiday myself!

24carat gold is far to soft to use as jewellery and is normally used for exchange or investment but if it is made into jewellery it is alloyed to another metal to make it become harder therefore it becomes not 24 carat pure gold.
Always keep your words soft and sweet just in case you have to eat them
