Any recommendations for the best way to get from Cairo to Hurghada??
Should I just fly???
I think hiring a driver is too expensive and bus might be too long . . . but I don't remember how long the bus takes. Is it an express???
Thanks! |

| I just read some posts in 2008 about problems driving/taking bus between Cairo and Hurghada/Sharm. Are there still problems?? hmmmm I think I'll ask another friend who lives in Cairo . . . I think she's done this trip before now that I am thinking about it! |

Flying is the easiest.... bus is the cheapest!
El Gouna buses are the nicest.... Superjet are generally ok.... but some aren't so nice!
I last did the trip over 3 years ago, so it might have changed.... but it was about 60le on El Gouna.... there are several buses a day.... I usually did the overnight one.
Journey is about 5-6 hours, if I remember rightly. |

Flights are often as cheap as 200-250 LE so if you're after comfort and speed that's probably the best options.
Buses are CHEAP! |

Thanks . . . I am weighing the "speed" factor . . . it is a lot of time to waste for just a couple of days in Hurghada, lol. I've heard the bus can take 8 hours and even going over night, welllllll, who can sleep on a bus??? |

The bus should take around 5 1/2 to 6 hours depending on traffic. Prices are, on El Gouna bus, 65 up to 100le, depending on quality of bus, !00le does not stop, the others have a half hour break at a cafe 2 hours ish out of Hurghada. They depart from behind the Cairo Museum, and pick up/drop off at Nasr City. In Hurghada they drop off/pick up at El Gouna and terminate nr Metro supermarket on Nasr St, Dahar.
I find the 100le bus very pleasant, the others are ok. When considering the travel time you must include time to get to the departure point and check in time, which is of course up to a couple of mins before departure on the bus, but an hour or more on the plane, and add on the cost/time of further travel to your destination. |
