Hair!!

I had my hair cut a few weeks ago and it has been a bloody nightmare since. The guy razored it and has turned it into a horrible fuzzy mess.

Has anyone found a good european hairdressor in Hurghada?

Not many hairdressers here do it as you have to be really good at it. My hairdresser does - but I trust him never to give me a bad haircut. I do recommend him to friends I think he's that good - but only has limited English - which is a big problem for a lot of the tourists here.

A lot of the foreigners here go to the hairdresser and come away unhappy. What they don't realise is - that you must give an Egyptian hairdresser another try - as on the first visit they are absolutely petrified of touching a foreigners hair as it's so different in texture to what they are used to dealing with. Normally by the second visit - they've got braver and know how your hair lays better and will give it a better cut. If it's still pants at the second visit - definitely find somewhere else.

You're quite lucky in other parts of Egypt - hardly any European hairdressers at all up here - so we have to make do with what we have.

There are two hairdressers in the Esplanada Mall.

One is owned by an Egyptian guy with a Russian girl who cuts the females hair.

The other is run and owned by a German lady. Just be firm when you go to this one as they will want to cut/colour as THEY want, not necessarily as you want.

There is also one in the Siva Grand (upstairs). Again this is owned and run by a German woman.

Also one at the end of School Street, Roma Hotel end. Not sure but think she is Dutch, her name is Gherda (not sure how to spell that).

I got my hair cut by the first one that you mentioned but it was by the Egyptian man, a lady came in later but he was already half way through cutting mine.

I was lucky enough to get my hair cut last week by a lady over on holiday from England. She gave me the best haircut ever but she will only cut friends hair as she is on holiday. The only problem is she won't be back until after Christmas and I don't think I can last that long.

I'll maybe try the hairdresser in the Marina. How much does she charge for a cut and blow dry?
